An update coming to Windows 11 that will annoy users: ads will be shown in File Explorer
A new feature Microsoft is testing on Windows Insider has already gained negative feedback from many Windows users. This feature has added built-in advertisements within Windows File Explorer.
Advertisements, one of the most annoying things at the moment, appear at every imaginable point, whether we accept them or not, although the reason many of the things we use now can be "used" is the money that companies make with these ads, Today, Microsoft has come up with a controversial feature that takes the advertising issue a step further.
Windows Insiders have encountered a feature in Windows 11 File Explorer that is sure to be very frustrating. Users will see a banner ad in the middle of the file explorer. While the ad bar seems in an "acceptable" place and context at the moment, it has led to fears of a future of Windows filled with ads.
This advertisement that appears in Windows File Explorer:
"The advertisement will distract the user and cause frustration if Microsoft starts adding advertisements to the explorer (File Explorer)."
The shared screenshot showed the ad that appeared when users accessed the My Documents folder. This ad included an advertisement for Microsoft Editor, another Microsoft product. and advertising content, "Write with confidence in documents, e-mail, and the web using advanced spelling suggestions from the Microsoft Editor."
The ad in question was neither an acceptable nor meaningless one, considering the My Documents folder and the contents that could be found in that folder. But the main issue was the fact that ads are now coming to File Explorer.
At this point, while there is no further post or comment on the future of ads in Windows, it would be wrong to say that ads will definitely make their way to Windows. Because Windows Insider, where this screenshot was taken, serves as a platform where new features are only tested and moved to the final version if successful results are obtained and positive reviews are obtained.
